Give Diabetes a Hand   (February 27, 2012))

An active participant at Facebook (Kate Wragg) has created an event there which she's calling Write HOPE on your hands for diabetes. She has designated March 1 as "Hope for a cure for Diabetes" day, and asks folks to "Write HOPE on your hands, and show your support for someone you love with diabetes, then post the photos here and tell us WHO you're writing Hope on your hands for ♥."

Lots of folks have promised to do so, and some have already posted photos of their hands, which can be seen at Photos of Write HOPE on your hands for diabetes. (You can see these pictures by clicking on the link, even if you don't belong to Facebook.)

It's nice to see a social media event spring up for diabetes. I encourage everyone who's on FB to join the event, and post a picture of HOPE on your hand on March 1st. And everyone, whether you plan to post a  photo at Facebook or not, always let others know that there is hope for diabetes: for a cure someday perhaps, for wider understanding now that diabetes is controllable, and that there is hope for even better care in the future.
